Who are we?
AskUsNow! is an online chat service — hosted by the Maryland library community — for Maryland residents and students.
We’re librarians who offer research and information help. It’s free and available 24/7.
Since our launch in 2003…
We’ve answered questions from over 468,000 chat sessions.
We’ve also followed up with answers to 132,000 questions by email.
Who’s helping you?
Librarians in Maryland help you with questions you have during regular library hours. Maryland AskUsNow! also partners with librarians throughout the US and the world. This means you’re certain to reach a librarian any time of the day (or night) for reference help.
How are we funded?
During your chat, the librarian may send you information from a variety of sources. These may include sources found in library, nonprofit, and business research tools. All current database licenses apply. Material may be protected by copyright law (Title 17, U.S. Code) and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (1998). Further reproduction may not be authorized.
By using this service, you agree:
- to hold the participating libraries harmless from any claims, losses, damages, obligations, or liabilities relating to the use of information obtained from these services
- not to send any question or content that otherwise violates any applicable local, state, national, or international law
- not to send any question or content that is illegal, harassing, libelous, threatening, harmful, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
While every effort is made to provide accurate information, Maryland AskUsNow! and QuestionPoint do not control the content of resources used.
Librarians are prohibited by law from offering legal or medical advice or opinions. Only a professional practitioner can provide specific advice and direction in resolving legal and/or medical issues.
We always appreciate your comments and suggestions.
