Guideline Revision Team 2010
The Guideline Revision Team will revise, edit, and update the AskUsNow! Service Guidelines for 2010. In the past, the Guidelines are revised approximately every year or two but after this revision we hope to make this a more regular and community-oriented process.

March 3, 2010 Meeting Notes
Our meeting started shortly after 11am. John, Beverly, Jennifer, Terry, Theresa, and Julie were in attendance.
Page by page each editor walked us through edits, comments, and questions they had including:
- "reference resources" should be "reference policies" with a link to the chat reference resources page already existing
- revise the "outside agency" referral section (#6)
- current "chat reference resources" page should be fleshed out with referral resources (from refresher training)
- everything on the "background" page can be moved to other areas of the guidelines
- a note about the customer status (red/green/yellow) alert should be added to the "Guidelines for Chat Sessions" > Ending a session area.
- add a section about technical requirements and link to appropriate QP documentation
Questions were noted for asking at the Liaison meeting next week including:
-
What do we name the "legalease" page? - What should the "homework help" policy read? (log in to read in forums)
- How should the "personal opinions" section read? (medical & legal advice versus info)
- How should the "Explicit materials" section be revised? (login to read in forums)
28 Jan 2010 Meeting Notes
Our meeting started shortly after 10am. John, Beverly, Terry, Theresa, and Julie were in attendance.
What needs to happen?
The Guidelines need to be looked at and revised in terms of:
- is current information up to date and relevant?
- is there additional information we need to add?
- are there things that we can get rid of, combine, or rephrase?
What's the best way to go about the revision?
The group decided that using Drupal to edit the guidelines and keep track of revisions would be the best. Most agreed that it would be good to learn to use Drupal in the process. Julie will send out account information and tutorials.
The team broke the guidelines into sections for easier revision. Each person took a chunk to revise:
John - Scheduleing
Beverly - Reference Resources and Misc Guidelines
Terry - Background and Misc Guidelines
Theresa - Service Guidelines
Julie - Communication
Shak and Jennifer are needed to work with Theresa on Service Guidelines which can be broken down into further chunks.
Each individual or mini-team will revise their sections in time to have a draft ready for the next whole-group meeting the week of Feb 22nd. Feedback can be solicited during our process using this website and the AskUsNow! listserv.
Action Items
-
1/28- Julie will send out the meeting notes to the group via email that will include a Doodle for the next meeting
-
Within a week - Julie will email out Drupal account information to the team members and tutorials on how to get started using it
-
before our next meeting: team members will read and revise their chunks, using email to solicit feedback and answers from their fellow team members.
-
week of Feb 22 - the group will meet to discuss progress and to get situated for the March 9th liaison meeting. Please note your availability. As we get closer in we can assess if an hour is sufficient time to accomplish what we need to.
-
Edits will continue to be made by groups on the pages themselves. The team will read over each section and provide additional feedback to the group via email before March 9th's Liaison meeting.
-
March 9 - progress will be revealed to the Liaisons at the meeting. Feedback will be gathered.
- Gather additional info and wordsmithing in forums and finalize guidelines.
