Brand Language: Primary List

Goal:  develop a primary list of no more than 5 phrases that will be the branding language of Maryland AskUsNow!.

This is the list of phrases that library customers should immediately identify to AskUsNow!. 

The tone should of the list should also match what we want our AskUsNow! customers to feel and sense about AskUsNow!.

Narrowing down the list

I agree with Paul's suggestion that "Chat Available" be changed to "Chat Now".

I will always be wary of using the word "answer", as so often I don't really get to provide that, specifically - just so you know (as if you didn't already). That said, we need to keep "Get answers from a person, not a machine." But probably as a secondary rather than a primary? Not sure of the usage on the categories.

I don't think the word "free" ever needs to be used, I think that's implied by the service begin provided by the library systems (see no. 11).

Primary messages should be short, so I vote for keeping:
Chat with a Librarian
Chat Now!
Get help from a librarian 24/7

Three to Keep

This is as simple as it gets to stating what customers are doing at AskUsNow!  Chat is a universal word, and all customers look at people who work in a library as being "Librarians"

  • Chat Available

Instead of Chat Available, I propose "Chat Now."  It is implied that if the qwidget or chat form is on screen, then chat is available.  "Chat Now" lets the customer know that they will get help live and in a conversation.

  • Get Answers!

I like this line because it is what chat providers try to do as the ultimate goal of a chat.
