Statewide Scripts

In QuestionPoint chat, we have two types ("scripts" and "URL scripts") and three levels of each (individual, institutional, statewide/shared) available to our librarians. For information on how to use and add your own individual level scripts, we have a Quality Tip and a Tutorial.

Late June / early July 2013 we did a weeding of our huge list of statewide scripts. You can find the pre-weeded list here.

Here's the current list:

40_Sales_question

Maryland AskUsNow! is the statewide interactive information service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week that uses the expertise of librarians to provide answers to questions, research guidance, and help navigating the internet. Your question may refer to selling a book or a similar product to a library. If this is the case, let us know the name of the library you are trying to contact. We'll have someone from that library reply to your question, as long as you provide an email address. Thanks!

41_Legal_resource_and_advice Your question may require a legal opinion. As librarians, we can offer information resources to get you started. You may want to consult with an attorney who can provide further interpretation. Extensive information on locating an attorney is available on the Maryland People's Law Library website, https://www.peoples-law.org/get-help. Let me see what I can find for you on your topic that can get you started.
42_Medical_resource_and_advice Your question may require a health professional's opinion. As librarians, we can offer information resources to get you started. You may want to consult with a doctor who can provide further interpretation. We can help you find a nearby doctor. I can also find helpful information that is in a language we can understand at MedlinePlus, one of the best online health care websites: https://medlineplus.gov/.
43_Are_you_still_there? I haven't heard from you in a while... I hope we haven't lost our connection! Are you still with me?
47_Printing_directions If you would like to print the page you're seeing in the right frame, you can try first clicking in that frame and then selecting Print. In the Print frames section, select the option for only the selected frame and then click OK. Instead, you may want to just click the link above in the trancript, which will open a new browser. You should be able to print from there. The 3rd option would be to wait until you see the full transcript appear on your screen after we've ended the session.
48_Access_pages_later After we end the call, you'll see our entire transcript on your screen, including the web links! If you weren't able to provide an e-mail address at login, you'll be given an option to e-mail the transcript to yourself then.
52_Rude_behavior I do want to help you with this, but you'll need to demonstrate some patience while we search. We aren't able to tolerate rude behavior on this service. Should we continue or just end the call now?
53_Inappropriate_rephrase If you have a question for us, please rephrase it again with more appropriate language.
54_Inappropriate_disconnect Sorry, but since you insist on using this kind of abusive language, I'm going to need to end the call. When you have an information question and can use appropriate language, we will be glad to help you then. Goodbye for now.
55_Illegal_obscene_questions Sorry to need to point this out - but by using this service you agree not to send any question or content that is illegal, harassing, libelous, threatening, harmful, or obscene - and does not violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law. Please contact us again when you have a question that we would be able to address here. Goodbye for now.
67_Phone_or_Visit? I think the best way to handle this particular question would be to visit your local library or contact them by phone. They'll be able to provide the best response on this. Do you already have your library's phone number? I'd be happy to look it up for you if you don't have it handy!
69_Disconnected_Goodbye
